Reflecting on the day I took this photograph, it was a perfect example of physical and social distancing. We woke up inside our rental van as the birds began to chirp, audible above the sound of the crashing waves. Other than the natural sounds, the beach was a quiet place that morning, not a soul to see. We strolled the beach and paused often, taking in the beauty of the morning sun, already warm and gazing out across the ocean towards home. The inviting beaches of Portugal are amongst the most magnificent in the world and the only things warmer are the people of this beautiful country.
